The former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral resources, Lagos State Hon. Oluwo Olawale Wasiu has formally declared his intentions to run for the governorship primaries under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos. Oluwo made this declaration in a world press conference held on Wednesday at Radisson Blu Hotels GRA.
While addressing the media, Oluwo clearly stated that he is running for the number one seat of Lagos based on capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to Lagosians.
“I am running for office because I believe in the promise of Lagos and the capacity of its people to be great, I do not see Lagos as just one of the 36 States of Nigeria, I see Lagos as a city-state capable of attaining self-sufficiency in the provision of amenities for all its inhabitants, just like Dubai.
“To put bluntly, I am running to realize the following; reset Lagos State on a new trajectory of security and inclusive prosperity, return the wealth of Lagos back to the people of Lagos, birth a fairer Lagos that creates opportunity for all not for few, involve youths in government to prepare them for fast leadership transition, reposition Lagos as an investment destination that is globally competitive.”
Stating further, Oluwo said that the program he will implement if elected include; Security, energy, transportation, sustainable financial empowerment, creative economy, human capacity development and physical and social infrastructures.
While commenting on the forthcoming All Progressives Congress APC primary elections he said, “this election will choose the flag bearer of our party for the governorship race for March 2023 and I will be participating in the primary election as an aspirant. The eligible voters for the election are the registered members of the APC and I hereby humbly solicit their support to choose me as the preferred candidate to fly the party’s flag as governorship candidate.
“APC is a popular party in Lagos that was voted into power in 2015 and 2019, we are grateful to Lagosians for that, it is important for our party members to consolidate this position by working together as a one big family in order to retain power in Lagos.
“The choice of candidate we present to voters in 2023 will be a critical success factor in this regards. While the majority of Lagos voters still prefer to keep the APC in power in Lagos in 2023, the different voting demographics want the party to present a new leadership that will provide effective solutions to the economic, social and infrastructural problems confronting our people.
“I represent the face of that new leadership and urge our party members to support me as the flagbearer of the party. We are members of one big APC family. A lot of things have changed since the last election in Lagos State. We must now put the people first in all we do so as to retain power in Lagos in 2023. We have the power to make this happen”. Oluwo concluded.
