The Lagos4Lagos Movement, a political group in Lagos says it is not concerned about the Presidential ambition of Sen. Bola Tinubu, the former governor of the state, in 2023.
Prince Sunday Ajayi, the State Chairman of the splinter group within All Progressives Congress (APC) which recently announced defection to the People Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos.
Ajayi, speaking with newsmen before the commencement of the official declaration of the group for PDP on Friday at TBS, said that the group had no president candidate yet.
“Everyone has rights to ambition. Nothing concerns us about Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
“We don’t have anybody yet. We are expecting presidential aspirants,” he said.
Speaking on the event expected to be graced by bigwigs in PDP, Ajayi APC Excos (those that emerged from the group’s parallel congresses) from the 245 wards, 20 LGAs and state were officially decamping into PDP.
“Lagos must work for Lagos. Over 6000 Excos members are here. We are moving to the PDP because of the impunity and imposition in the APC.
“No democracy in APC and PDP is more democratic than any other party. We tried to change the situation in APC but there was no way. It is one man show.
“We want democracy for the people and we want to practice it,” Ajayi added.
He said that the group had mobilised over 50, 000 people out of 2 million members we have in APC.
According to him, Lagos4Lagos movement is not about indigene of Lagos but about Lagos working for those living in the state irrespective of background and ethnicity rather than individuals or a selected group.
“No more APC in Lagos. People remaining in the party are only the elected and appointed people. We have people at the grassroots here,” he added.
NAN reports that members of the group drawn across the 20 LGAs in the state had arrived the venue of the declaration as early as 8:00am at TBS, but the event slated for 9:00am is yet to commence as at 12:30pm.
The members of the group displaying banners with various inscriptions are dress in pink and green T-shirts and face caps with inscription of “Jandor4Governor”, and “Jandor 2023”.
PDP National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu is reportedly expected lead 11 governors on the platform of the party, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and other chieftains of the party to a formal declaration to PDP of Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly called Jandor.
