The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State says whatever achievements its recorded in the state remains tips on the iceberg, assuring residents of better life in 2022.
The Lagos APC- Chairman-Elect, Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, made this remark in a statement on Friday in Lagos to felicitate with residents on the New Year.
Ojelabi, who congratulated the residents for survive 2021, said that the state government had taken immense steps in the outgone year, in spite of all challenges, to improve the state in many areas.
According to him, 2022 shall be the year of consolidation on those good things that the state government has been providing to its citizens, as the benefits of those steps have started to manifest.
The chairman-elect said that the state 2022’s budget was packed with many benefits which execution shall be to the maximum.
“We want to assure you that, as the party in power, we are not relenting a bit in providing those dividends of democracy for you and your family.
“2022 is going to be a critical year in the history of the country and for our state because it is the year that those projects and undertakings of the APC-led government of the state will be made more manifest for the citizens of the state to fully benefit.
“As you are aware, we have made great efforts at improving virtually every area of human development index.
“Having sought your understanding overtime, for us to complete our tasks, we can now come out rest assured that what you have been enjoying hitherto, even as commendable as they have been, are tips of the iceberg.’
” In other words, our pact with you shall reach maximum fulfilment in 2022,” Ojelabi said.
He said that the party would not relent in its concern for the people but remain dutiful servants-in-power.
According to him, Lagos, through collective efforts, has remained a role model among other states in many ways.
He said that 2021 had been a challenging year that had tested residents resilience on virtually every front.
Ojelabi said that the state had been confronted by socio-economic happenstances that stretched people’s perseverance, and had been disturbed by Coronavirus which had driven residents into a state of fear.
He commended residents for staying firm in spite of every challenge and for resisting those negative thoughts and tendencies capable of setting the state back as well as making nonsense of efforts at achieving progress.
“I trust that our abiding faith in a better tomorrow will remain strong, for us to go into 2022 with our aspirations intact and with renewed vigour, hope and optimism for a more rewarding year.
“We humbly appeal for your support and prayers. Governance is a set activities for everyone of us – the government and the governed.
“We are all stakeholders in the task of moving the state forward and so everyone needs to play their part – to ensure that ours is a state that will continue to remain the envy of others,” he added.
According to him, undoubtedly, the major activities that will make the 2023 elections thick are going to take place in 2022, consequently, the party is prepared to retain its position at both the state and national level.
“We promise to do everything that is necessary and legitimate to consolidate on our positions at every level. We owe this to you. You gave us the mandate and we shall never fail you.
“We are proud to inform you that, in our great state, we have commenced due processes to ensure that fair play and justice prevail at all times both at the party level and in our relationships with the people.
“Thus, as we welcome you to a rewarding year, 2022, we promise to remain your dutiful servants. We promise to continue engaging with you at every level. We promise to make your voice to be heard all the time,” he said.
