The lawmaker representing Ifako Ijaiye constituency II, Hon. Rasheed Makinde at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Rasheed Makinde has implore Muslims to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and rekindle their energy towards nation building.
Hon. Makinde made this statement in his message to Muslim faithfuls in commemoration of the year 1442AH Eld-el-Adha. He noted that no man is perfect but tolerance can help to build the much desired peaceful coexistence among the diverse society of the nation.
The lawmaker who chairs the House committee on Housing noted that the Eid-el-Kabir festivity affords faithful ones the opportunity to felicitate amongst one another without holding back just as it was prescribed in the holy Quran and exhibited by Prophet Muhammed (SAW) in several hadith.
He appreciated God for the peace and tranquility achieved in Lagos state, noted that “no matter the plans of the wicked ones to draw Lagos back through various antics, God has been so merciful to Lagos and her leadership. Lagos residents must remember that good family ties brings adherents of different religions together and they co-habits peacefully, so religion or youthful age should not be abused to herald disintegration or destruction of properties and the heritage of Lagos which made the state tourist hub of West Africa.”
He urged faithful to pray for the sustenance of civil government, noting that tolerance is one of the virtues that can help to nurture our enduring democracy.
“We are blessed in Lagos with a very good governance mechanism, which is seriously galvanizing religious tolerance via NIREC. In fact the Lagos arm appears a pacesetter in championing tolerance and neighbourliness amidst multiple-religion state, but I want us to sustain the tempo and pray fervently for the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Dr. Kadri Hamzat, the speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Dr. Mudashiru Obasa. “I urge you all to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with moderation as Covid-19 Third Wave is currently bitting hard, and we need to adhere to all safety protocols in the state to avoid its wide spread.” Makinde counsels.
He prayed Almighty God (Allah) grant all Muslim faithfuls the fulfilling lives to celebrate more Eld on Earth.
