… AS HON. MAKINDE PREACHES TOLERANCE, SELF-ESTEEM
…CONGRATULATES MUSLIMS ON ‘ILEYA’ FESTIVAL

The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, RT. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has described this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, as a unique one owing to the adverse effect of COVID-19 scourge ravaging the globe, on individuals, religion and the economy of nations, Nigeria inclusive.
This year’s annual Islamic celebration according to the Rt.Hon.Obasa is a pointer to Muslims in Nigerian and the world, that God deserves to be praised by all in whatever situation we are, as stated in His commandments.
Obasa who is also the chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria,assert that the world should see its present predicament as a call to get closer to God through humility, respect and love for neighbours.
The Speaker congratulated Muslims who are alive to witness the celebration and urged them to remain conscious that “we all exist not by our strengths but by God’s grace.
“Within the year, many of us have lost loved ones; we have also had moments of downturn, but God has been our strength at such periods.
“As we mark this celebration, let us remember our brothers and sisters in need, let us remember the true meaning of love for one another and above all, we must all draw closer to God, who knows the end from the beginning and whose grace we constantly seek.”
The Speaker, who commended Lagos State and the Federal Government over the way they have handled the pandemic, pleaded with citizens to continue to adhere to medical instructions, including the use of face masks, sanitizers and washing of hands at required times.
“Adherence to instructions is one of the best ways we can collectively return our society to normalcy,” Said Obasa.
Hon. Tpl. Rasheed Makinde has implored Muslims to be tolerance and be self-esteem as post covid-19 will require more Grace of God, hard-working and dedication to service for businesses to thrive.
The lawmaker representing Ifako Ijaye constituency II, Hon. Rasheed Makinde in the Lagos State House of Assembly made this statement during his felicitation message to Muslims faithfuls within his constituency, Ifako-Ijaye 02. He said to sustain the spirit of tolerance, belief and sharing exhibited in time past, self-esteem need to be in concluded as personal convintion is the first to succeed post covid-19 pandemic.
“We need to pray for more Grace of God so that we can overcome the current pandemic Covid-19.
Hon. Makinde speaking further in his message of Eld-el-Adha, he stated that no man is perfect but tolerance and grace can help to build the much desired peaceful coexistence among the diverse society of the nation.
The lawmaker who chairs the House committee on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations noted that the Eid-el-Adha festivity affords faithful ones the opportunity to give share with the needy without holding back just as prescribed in the Holy Quran and exhibited by Prophet Muhammed (SAW) in several Hadith.
Hon. Makinde appreciated God for the peace and tranquility achieved in the last one year of governance in Lagos state, noted that good family ties brings adherents of different religions together and they co-habits peacefully, so religion should not be abused to herald disintegration”.
He urged faithfuls to pray for the sustenance of civil government. noting that tolerance is one of the virtues that can help to nurture our enduring democracy.
“We are blessed in Lagos with a very good governance mechanism, which is seriously galvanizing religious tolerance via NIREC. In fact the Lagos arm appears a pacesetter in championing tolerance and neighbourliness amidst multi-religious state, but I want us to sustain the tempo and pray fervently for the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the leadership of Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa as they continue in the quest to make Lagos the dream of our National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I urge you all to celebrate Eid-el-Adha ‘Ileya’ with moderation so as to maximise the benefits of the season”. Makinde counsels.
