The Christian Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter has called on the State government to embrace dialogue in other to address the issues surrounding the effects of covid-19 in the state.
The religious body maintained that, dialogue between religious leaders and the state government would bring physical and spiritual end to the pandemic.
The State CAN Chairman, Bishop Tunde Akin-Akinsanya made this call in a statement issued and available to newsmen on Monday.
Akin-Akinsanya argued that, dialogue is the only way to solve the crisis facing religious leaders in the state during this covid-19.
The CAN Chairman expressed appreciation to the state government for its efforts in preventing the spread of covid-19 in the state.
Akin-Akinsanya noted that, the palliative materials distributed to residents of the state have cushioned the effects of the lockdown in the state.
He said “Christian Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter profoundly appreciates the great effort and laudable initiatives taken by our State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Prince ‘Dapo Abiodun MFR, to combat the negative impacts of the ongoing plague.
“The technological and technical innovations deployed to date by our dear Government have been largely responsible for curbing the expected surge of human misery, in spite of the fact that Ogun State was Nigeria’s “index case” while equally sharing technically non-delineated border towns with Lagos State—the national “EPICENTER” of this dreaded pandemic. We therefore applaud the systematic and carefully orchestrated steps taken by our Government to minimize the deleterious effects of COVID-19.
“Christian Association of Nigeria also appreciates the various palliatives provided by the State Government to the body of Christ and the general public at large which had undoubtedly provided succor to the masses.
“Our leaders and members also express heart felt gratitude to God Almighty for preserving the lives of Ogun State children as we congratulate all and sundry on this year’s “2020 Children’s day celebrations” coming up May 27th. We also wish our Muslim Brothers and Sisters in Ogun state a very Happy Eid-El-Fitri. We pray this season shall usher in peace and healing in our dear State and Country.
“Christian Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter hereby requests for a ‘MEETING OF THE MINDS’ between our Governor and the Religious bodies to jointly and collectively ruminate over the ongoing processes of moving forward positively and with a view to establishing further ‘ways and means’ of bringing about both PHYSICAL and SPIRITUAL end to this plague in our dear State. This we see as a necessary tool at this point.
We’ll continue to remain in fervent prayers for our dear State and Country as we remain optimistic that the Lord whose name is above all other names (Coronavirus inclusive) shall heal our land. At the end of every TUNNEL, there is always LIGHT. The LIGHT will shine again in Jesus name”.
