The United Nations has flagged off its online conversation program in Lagos Nigeria as part of the activities lined up to mark its 75th years anniversary.
The event which was hosted by the famous Ejigbo Lagos based spiritual and founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele.
The UN online conversation flag off was held at INRI Church headquarters oke-Afa Ejigbo Lagos on Friday 14th February, 2020.
Speaking at the event, the world peace ambassador president Denmark, His Excellency, Ambassador Per Stafsen said, “today marks s turning point in the history of the international community as we have gathered here to flag-off the United Nations on-line conversation for the first time in Nigeria and second time in the world soon after it was launched a week ago by the UN Secretary General, His Excellency, Mr. António Guterre.”
Speaking further he said, that the initiative is geared towards assembling 10 million Nigerian voices that will engage the United Nations with opinion and suggestions that will strengthen their global mandate for the future. “As facilitator of this conversation, we may wish to inform this audience that your input into this platform will amount to a better feedback to the United Nations that will aid them in achieving a sustainable, inclusive, and a peaceful society” he said.
Per Stafsen stressed that, “as an international association with our working relationship with various regional and sub-regional organisations in our bid to promoting global peace have made us result oriented. It is on this peace mission that we were able to receive the nomination and acceptance made for the honour done on His Excellency, Primate Amb. Babatunde Ayodele as an Eminent peace Ambassador.
In a Goodwill message from the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Home Affairs Prince Rofiu Elegushi, in his speech he said Lagos State Government is ready to collaborate with agencies in the area of peace and security for the prosperity.
“As government we are very much ready to collaborate with any agencies to ensure peace and security of lives and property.”
“On behalf of Mr. Governor, I commend the UN and INRI for this great initiative, we shall give our full suspect to sustain this initiative and INRI.” Elegushi said as he declared the event open.
In his usual norms, Primate Babatunde Elijah used the avenue to empowered several categories of people, widows, youths, UTME (JAMB) prospective candidates among others.
In attendant at the Flag-off ceremony was Ambassador Dr. Chinedu Anthony Country Director South Africa, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nkweke world Peace spokesperson, Ambassador Sam Ogoin UN-SDG Champion among others.
