Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets confirmed their spot in the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil after battling Uganda’s Cubs to a 1-1 draw at the Chamazi Stadium on Saturday, April 20, to progress to the semi-finals of the ongoing CAF U17 Nations Cup in Tanzania.
Before the commencement of hostilities on Saturday all the for teams in Group A had a chance of progressing to the semi-finals and the World Cup in Brazil later in the year, but the Eaglets maintained their top spot after Ibraheem Jabaar netted the equalizer to send the Cubs parking from the tournament.
The encounter saw Olakunle Olusegun starting from the bench as Jabaar started in attack as Nigeria dominated the proceedings in first half, with Uganda’ Cubs opting to soak the pressure, and play on the counter at any given chance.
